CAIRO - 7 November 2017: The House of Representatives on Tuesday approved the bill submitted by the government to regulate using, handling and trading in remote-controlled aircraft.

Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal postponed the final vote till a later session, saying the draft law requires the approval of two-thirds of the MPs.

The six-article law has assigned the Ministry of Defense to be the authority concerned and the defense minister to be the official concerned in this regard.

The law also prohibits importing, manufacturing, collecting, handling, possessing, using or trading in the remote-controlled aircraft without a permit from the Ministry of Defense in accordance with the relevant laws and provisions.

The third article of the law stipulated that whoever violates the previous provision shall be jailed for a minimum of one year and a maximum of seven years and/or shall be fined EGP 5,000-50,000.

According to the law, whoever commits any relevant act of terrorism shall be sentenced to life in prison, while they shall be sentenced to death if the act leads to the death of any person.
