CAIRO - 22 October 2017: Prime Minister Sherif Ismail held on Sunday a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Haider al Abadi, currently visiting Egypt.

The meeting was attended by the Egyptian petroleum and trade ministers.

At the start of the meeting, Ismail praised historic ties between Egypt and Iraq and reiterated Cairo's full support for Iraq.

Terrorism is an international phenomenon and the international community shall coordinate efforts to stop all support provided for extremist groups, he said.

Ismail further voiced Egypt's keenness to boost cooperation with Iraq in the petroleum field.

Abadi, meanwhile, offered condolences to the Egyptian people over the police martyrs who had been killed in a terrorist attack on Wahat road, near Giza, on Friday.

Iraq entirely supports Egypt in the fight against terrorism, he said, calling for coordinating efforts to bolster cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
