CAIRO – 7 October 2017: The first Arab conference for the restoration and reconstruction of Syria and Iraq will be hosted by the Engineers Syndicate in Cairo from October 9 to 11, according to Eng. Tarek El Nabarawy, president of the Engineers Syndicate.

The conference, held under the auspices of Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, will see the attendance of the presidents and members of the Syrian and Iraqi syndicates, along with a number of concerned officials and researchers of the participant countries.

Al-Nabarawi said exclusively to Al-Ahram that the conference is the first of its kind to be held specifically for the restoration purposes of both war-torn Syria and Iraq, as per a cooperation protocol signed between Egypt and both counties.

For his part, Eng. Mohammed Al Husseini, secretary general of the conference, said that the conference participants are expected to outline their long-term visions and strategies, and discuss ways of how to make use of technology to help restore the means of livelihood to both countries.

Since 2011, Syria and Iraq have been devastatingly ravaged due to the rise of extremism in both countries that intensified internal civil wars, which spawned degradation in standards of living.
