CAIRO – 5 October 2017: First deputy speaker of the pan-Arab Parliament lawmaker Ahmed Raslan hailed President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, the Egyptian General Intelligence and Egyptian diplomacy for their great and unprecedented success which achieved by Egypt in the Palestinian reconciliation file.

Raslan said that the whole world should be well aware that Egypt has never abandoned the Palestinian cause, which is considered one of the most important issues that affect Egyptian and global national security, stressing that the whole world knows that Sisi and Egypt have a central and historic role in this crucial issue.

He said that the international community in all its regional and international organizations in general and the United Nations in particular should follow the vision of Egypt and the Syrian president to end the historic conflict between Palestine and Israel.

Coptic MPs and political analyst Suzy Rafla stated that the visit of a high-level delegation from the General Intelligence to Gaza is a strong message for anyone wanting to underestimate Egypt's role in the Arab region, especially in the Palestinian issue.

She stressed that Egypt has been and remains the leader in resolving the Palestinian issue and restoring the rights of the Palestinian people.

Deputy foreign affairs committee MP Tarek Radwan stated that Sisi’s efforts to end the state of Palestinian division between Fatah and Hamas and the support for the file of reconciliation restore Egypt to its normal role in the region.

Hamas’ movement had announced on September 17 the dissolution of the administrative committee at the Gaza Strip, inviting the Government of National Reconciliation to assume its duties and hold general elections. The movement affirmed it would comply with the Social Reconciliation Accord signed in 2011.

Earlier, Palestinian President Abbas said that there is no other country is as vital to the Palestinian cause as Egypt due to its historical and political position in the region. “Egypt has an opinion, a position and an interest in the Palestinian cause,” said Abbas.
