CAIRO – 29 September 2017: The Qatari regime led by Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani insists on oppressing its opposition figures. The Qatari government decided to withdraw the Qatari citizenship from leader of Shaml al-Hawajir tribe Sheikh Shafi Nasser Hammoud al-Hajiri and other members of the tribe, according to Qatari opposition sources.

The Qatar Mubashir account on Twitter revealed, “Qatar stripped citizenship from Sheikh Hammoud and some of his tribe’s members.”

“Withdrawal of Qatari citizenship from poet Mohamed bin Fatis al-Merreh seems to be implemented soon,” Qatar Mubashir Twitter account added.

Sheikh Shafi Nasser Hammoud al-Hajiri is known for criticizing the Qatari government's behaviors against Gulf neighbors. Last June, Hammoud expressed his anger at Doha for its acts that "threaten domestic security of the Arab Gulf states," according to his statements following his meeting with Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman.
