RAMALLAH - 11 August 2017: Secretary of the Palestine Liberation Organization's (PLO) Executive Committee Saeb Erekat asked Friday the Quartet on the Middle East to confirm their adoption of the two-state solution based on the pre-1967 borders.

This came during his separate meetings with the US and Russian ambassadors in Palestine.

Erekat called on the quartet to affirm that the Israeli settlements, including those in eastern Al Quds are illegal, calling for the need to commit to the international law and legitimacy to resolve the issue.

He pointed to both ambassadors that the PLO contacts with the quartet on a constant basis and at various levels.

Meanwhile, he explained that the Palestinian Hamas movement must abolish its government administrative committee and enable the national accord government to carry out its responsibilities and jurisdictions in the Gaza strip, as well as agreeing to hold general elections to bring an end to the division.
