CAIRO - 14 December 2021: Deputy Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities for national projects Khaled Abbas asserted that the National Strategic Plan for Urban Development 2052 aims at increasing Egypt’s inhabited lands to 14-7% to support economic and social development and to cater to the annual population increase.

Habitable land areas are now unable to meet the economic needs due to the overpopulation problem, added Abbas at a conference on Monday.

The conference, themed "Housing units: transformations in markets and opportunities," is held by American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Egypt).

The State does not compete with the Private Sector, he said, adding the plan calls for establishing 42 new cities.

He underlined the State's keenness on removing all obstacles facing the housing sector.

The State is well aware that citizens have the right to a decent live, he added.
