| Appointed general manager of Dusit Thani Lakeview in November 2010, Ahmed El-Hady has 19 years of experience within the field of hospitality, having held several positions at different International hospitality chains. His most recent role was as Regional Director of Sales and Marketing for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts in Egypt and Jordan. What is your favorite vacation destination in Egypt and why? I would definitely say that my favorite destinations in Egypt would be Sinai and Upper Egypt, not forgetting Alexandria where most people of my generation have unforgettable memories. Each of these destinations has its own unique attractions.How do you like to spend your vacation? Away from the hotel, my ideal vacation would be spending quality time with my family. I enjoy traveling to different parts of the world to discover new attractions and experience different cultures. What is your favorite traditional Egyptian food and where (outside your hotel) do you like to go for an enjoyable meal? At your hotel, what is your favorite meal? In my opinion, nothing beats the good old tradition Egyptian cuisine; fattah at home with the family is my all-time favorite Egyptian dish. I have recently become very fond of the Thai cuisine — they have some exquisite dishes too. Now more than ever we need to promote tourism in Egypt. What efforts is your establishment making toward this goal? Since the January 25 Revolution, Dusit Thani has continuously concentrated its marketing and sales activities to match and meet the expectations of our local market. Dusit has worked extensively to build and promote the hotel brand to acquire a large number of local customers, by promoting all the hotel facilities across the country. The hospitality industry needs to encourage tourists to return by promoting Egypt through road shows , international conferences and fairs. If you could recommend just one thing an Egyptian should see or do in Egypt, what would it be? Nile cruising. |
