A Cooler Metro

Finally realizing that summer heat and old subway cars do not make for humane transportation, the state has announced its plan to start air-conditioning the underground metro. The project will start this month with the El Marg–Helwan line, which was built in 1986, and will then be followed by the other lines by the end of this year. That’s right, we said other lines. This announcement coincides with the official countdown to the long-awaited third metro line connecting Attaba and Abbasseya, due to be inaugurated in three months.
