The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft parties law that would allow political parties to be formed by notification alone. A committee of judges would have 30 days to respond to the notification or else the party will be automatically approved. The judicial committee is tasked with making sure that the group meets the official requirements for political parties, among which is the long-standing rule that no political parties can be based upon religion, race or gender.
