Egypt registers 581 new coronavirus cases with 41 deaths Sunday

CAIRO - 8 March 2020: The Health Ministry said on Sunday that 581 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 186,503.



In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 41 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 10,995.



As many as 444 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 144,019 so far, the spokesman said. 

 

Egypt’s Health Ministry affirmed that Covid-19 vaccine is 86% safe and effective preventing the virus infection.

 

It was added that the vaccine has proved to be 99% effective in the production of antibodies, and 100% in preventing infections of the moderate and severe cases.

 

The Ministry explained that the vaccine is available for all Egyptians after reaeration via official website.

 

Egypt had earlier received 100,000 doses of both Sinopharm and Astrazeneca vaccines.

 

Health Advisor to the President Mohamed Awad Tag el-Din stated Sunday that Egypt will receive further eight million doses of Astrazeneza vaccine in a few weeks.
