CAIRO, March 1 (MENA) – Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit has slammed Houthi attacks on the Yemeni province of Maarib last month.

In statements Monday, the Arab League chief said such attacks are part of Iran’s audacious agenda it used in Yemen as a bargaining chip in political negotiations without taking measures to protect civilians.

Abul Gheit also condemned Saturday’s ballistic missile attacks on Saudi forces which managed to intercept and destroy the missiles.

He expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for its measures to defend its territories and people, saying the kingdom has the ability to confront terrorist attacks against civilians.

He held the Houthi group fully responsible for the deterioration of humanitarian conditions in Yemen which would cause a famine in the Arab country.
