CAIRO - 17 February 2020: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed on Wednesday that Egypt greatly values Pakistan as one of the biggest Islamic countries, and welcomes the development of bilateral cooperation and the exchange of experiences in various fields.

 

This came during Sisi’s meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, in the presence of Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry.

 

According to the Presidential spokesman, the foreign minister of Pakistan conveyed to President Sisi a message from Pakistani President Arif Alawi that included an invitation to visit Pakistan within the framework of efforts to boost the relations between the two countries.

The message also included the aspiration to explore new horizons for bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Pakistan, as well as the assertion that Egypt's stability is one of the pillars of the Middle East and the Islamic world’s stabilty.

 

Furthermore, the Pakistani foreign minister conveyed the greetings of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and his praise for the inspiring Egyptian experience, represented by the huge achievements that Egypt has witnessed during the past years in various fields.

 

These fields comprise combating terrorism and achieving security and stability, and extensive efforts to achieve comprehensive development through deep economic reform and the establishment of major national projects, to name a few.

 

"Pakistan looks at the Egyptian development experience with appreciation and looks forward to benefiting from it in light of the similar situations in the two friendly countries and the common challenges facing them," the message read.

 

For his part, the President conveyed his greetings to President Arif Alawi and Prime Minister Imran Khan, praising the historical relations between the two countries.

 

The President affirmed Egypt's keenness to enhance coordination and consultation on various regional issues and fields of common interest, especially the fight against terrorism and extremist thought.

 

The spokesman added that the meeting dealt with ways to enhance the frameworks of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in several fields in line with the position of the two countries and their capabilities to meet the aspirations of their peoples, especially in terms of security, economic cooperation, trade, and investment exchange.

 

They also discussed exploring prospects for cooperation between Gwadar Port in Pakistan and the Suez Canal Economic Zone to establish industrial projects.

 

Additionally, the latest developments in the situation in the Middle East and the Islamic world were reviewed, in light of the importance of continued and intensive coordination and joint efforts between the two countries to maintain regional and international peace and security, combat terrorism, correct religious discourse and properly spread the Islamic religion.
