CAIRO - 13 February 2020: Egypt registered on Friday 609 new coronavirus cases , upping the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 172,602, the Ministry of Health announced In a statement.


Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 42 coronavirus-linked deaths were registered over the past 24 hours, raising the overall death toll to 9,899 since the outset of the pandemic.



As many as 508 cases were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving the necessary medical care, taking the total number of recovered cases so far to 134,215, the spokesman added.

 

On Feb 11, Egyptian President’s Health Affairs Advisor Mohamed Tag El-Din said that Egypt will receive 300,000 doses of the Chinese coronavirus vaccines soon.

 
In media remarks o “Happens In Egypt” talk show on MBC, Tag El-Din added that Egypt has received 100,000 doses so far. On January 31, 2021, Egypt received the first batch of the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine (50,000 doses).
 
 
On February 4, 2021, Health Minister Hala Zayed said Egypt managed to strike international deals to import 100 million vaccine doses of the novel coronavirus in 2021 thanks to its good relations with other countries.
