CAIRO – 7 February 2021: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will meet with Yemeni Foreign Minister Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak on Sunday to discuss the bilateral ties and issues of mutual concern, according to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Saturday.

Over a phone call with his Yemeni counterpart Maeen Abdulmalik on January 12, 2021, Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli affirmed Egypt’s full support for the new Yemeni government in achieving stability for the Yemeni people, reported Yemeni news agency (SABA) on Monday.

Madbouli congratulated Abdulmalik on the formation of the new government, wishing them safety, especially after the terrorist attack that targeted Aden International Airport when the new government members arrived in Aden late December 2020.

On December 19, 2020, Egypt welcomed the formation of the new power-sharing government in Yemen under the Saudi brokerage, said Egyptian Spokesperson Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Hazef in a statement.

The new government came in implementation of the Riyadh Agreement terms, Hafez said, adding that such agreement is a step towards reaching a comprehensive political settlement to the Yemeni crisis.
