CAIRO – 4 February 2021: Egypt condemned Wednesday the bombing of a Tunisian military vehicle, which resulted in the death of four soldiers, extending condolences to the victims' families as well as the Tunisian army and state.

 

Egypt renewed its refutation of such terrorist practices asserting its confidence that its fellow Arab North African state will work diligently to eradicate terrorism and its supporters. Egypt also stressed its full support to Tunisia's measures aimed at protecting its security and stability.

 

Egypt and Tunisia will inaugurate a maritime trade route to strengthen bilateral trade and investment relations, Tuniscope reported on January 8.

 

The agreement came during a meeting between Tunisian Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi and Egyptian ambassador to Tunis Ihab Fahmy on January 7 at the Government Palace in the Kasbah.

 

Both sides tackled ways of enhancing the mechanisms of bilateral cooperation through holding meetings of the Tunisian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee. Counter-terrorism efforts have also been discussed.

 

It has been agreed to make 2021 a year of the Tunisian-Egyptian culture via holding mutual cultural activities between the two countries, in a bid of boost tourism and attraction of Asian tourists to the two countries.
