Dar Al Iftaa demands not to share video of father burning his baby girl

CAIRO - 20 January 2020: Following the spread of a video showing a father threatening to burn his baby in Dakahlia Governorate, Dar Al Iftaa released a statement commenting on the shocking incident.

"The inability of some people to carry out their parental duties and their going to the extent of harming their children shows an unmistakable disorder in their human feelings and instincts. Such conduct is of course forbidden by Sharia,” the statement read.

Dar Al Iftaa called on all Egyptians not to publish and further spread these pictures and clips that cause grave harm to all normal people.

During the past hours, Dakahlia Governorate witnessed a heinous crime, as a man stripped a baby girl in the cold threatening to burn her, which angered citizens and users of social media.

A video clip spread on social media, prompting the security forces in Dakahlia Governorate to arrest the accused father, as Amal Al-Basyouni, the girl's mother, confirmed that the security services had arrested her husband after publishing the video clip.

The wife added that her husband tortured their two-year-old daughter, pointing out that they got separated 5 months ago due to his bad conduct. She also said that her husband denies his daughter's lineage, which is his motive behind torturing her. The wife added that she filed for divorce because of his actions against her and their daughter.

The infant’s mother indicated that her 38-year-old husband works in the profession of bakery maintenance, pointing out that on the day of the incident, disputes arose between them after she asked him to prove the daughter’s lineage.
