Egypt sends medical aid plane to Jordan to face coronavirus spreading

CAIRO – 18 January 2020:  A military plane loaded with urgent medical aid took off from Egypt heading to the Jordanian capital-Amman, Monday.

The large shipment of medicines and medical supplies, which were prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Population, aims to support the Jordanian people in confronting the spread of the coronavirus.

According to statement by Egypt’s Ministry of Defense, this step comes per the instructions of President Sisi to support friendly Arab countries, and affirm the solidarity and full cooperation with them in the face of pandemic crises

 

President Abdel Fatah al Sisi departed, Monday heading to Jordan in an official visit per an invitation of King Abdullah II.

Presidency spokesperson Bassam Rady said that Sisi is expected to hold talks with King Abdullah II and discuss the latest development in the Middle East, along with the two countries Bilateral relations and coordination.

Last week, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held talks, with visiting Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi.

The two top diplomats' talks tackled means of boosting relations as well as the developments in regional and international issues, Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.

During the meeting, Shoukry briefed his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi on the outcome of recent contacts made by Egypt with all parties concerned with the Palestinian cause.

Shoukry received Safadi in the presence of Jordan's new ambassador to Egypt Amgad Al Aadialah, who presented his credentials to the foreign minister.

Both ministers underlined the deeply-rooted, strong relations between Egypt and Jordan and highlighted continuous coordination and consultations under the directives of both countries' political leaderships to establish security and stability in the region, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez said.
