CAIRO – 1 January 2021: Egyptian authorities launched investigations into an incident of forcing a student infected with coronavirus to take his mid-term exam near the bathrooms in Alexandria.

The Directorate of Education in Alexandria issued a statement to investigate the incident after it went viral on social media.

The student’s father has notified the Naguib Mahfouz Official Language School that his son got infected with the coronavirus two days before his test, but he was told that his son should take the exam; otherwise, he will fail.

Then, the student has found that a desk and chair were put near the bathrooms for him to take the foreign language test, the father complained in a post on Facebook, adding that examiners refused to hand him the test paper and captured some photos for him to publish them on social media.

Directorate of Education in Alexandria head said that bullying against coronavirus patients is unaccepted behavior that could negatively affect people and could push people to not reveal their infections.
