Egypt's rank rises on sustainable development index

CAIRO – 14 December 2020: In a Cabinet meeting Monday, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala al-Said presented plans accomplished on the sustainable development front.

 

Egypt rose five ranks on the Sustainable Development Index to be 83rd among 166 states in 2020 up from 92nd among 162 states in 2019 recording an overall score of 68.8 on all 17 2015/2030 SDGs.

 

On the Arab level, Egypt rose by one rank to become seventh among 20 states in 2020 up from ninth among 19 states in 2019. It is noted that Egypt ranks first in the Arab World in terms of implementing international standards in the evaluation of SDGs.

 

As for the African level, Egypt maintained the fourth rank in 2020 and 2019 among 47 states in the former and 45 states in the latter. Speaking of emerging economies, Egypt ranked 10th among 16 countries in 2020 and 2019.
