CAIRO – 13 December 2020: The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy released on Sunday a statement on the expansion and renovation works carried out in Cairo grid between 2014 and October 2020 at LE1.5 billion.

 

The ministry installed 675 transformers while recycling 870 others. It also placed 1,185 low voltage boxes. The ministry extended medium voltage cables over 1,210 kilometers, and low voltage cables over 625 kilometers. Speaking of renovation works, 1,445 low voltage boxes, 965 medium voltage cables, and 340 low voltage cables were rehabilitated.

 

In addition, the ministry upgraded the customer service centers and introduced e-payment. The number of transactions that took place is 2.2 million, and they are worth LE580 million. As for electricity theft, LE1 billion were collected from culprits as they stole 270 kWh.

 

In a similar context, Beheira Electricity Distribution Company developed the network of 13 villages at a total cost of LE 58 million as part of the Presidential Initiative project, "Hayah Karima" a decent life for every Egyptian - for every Egyptian.
