Egypt’s NCW launches 16-day campaign to eliminate violence against women

CAIRO – 25 November 2020: The Egyptian National Council for Women (NCW) announced launching the 16-day campaign aiming to combat violence against women.

 

The campaign is launched annually during the period from November 25 to December 10.

 

Dr. Maya Morsi, Chair of the Council, assured that violence against women is a global issue facing women all over the world, and poses a great threat to the security and stability of families. She affirmed that violence against women “needs a lot of effort represented in raising awareness, being decisive in addition to maintaining solidarity among everyone to find solutions.

 

She further stressed that the Egyptian state considers this issue a priority atop of its agenda.

 

The campaign coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which annually falls on November 25.

 

The President of the Council indicated that the 16-day campaign of activities that aims to eliminate violence against women works to raise community awareness and create a supportive public opinion everywhere to combat all forms of violence against women and girls.

 

She indicated that the National Council for Women organizes this year many cultural and awareness-raising activities, and activities in various governorates over the course of 16 days by sending many awareness-raising messages to combat violence against women in all its forms and manifestations, through direct meetings or via the Internet. She ensured tha throughout the campaign, all precautionary measures are maintained to avoid the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.
