Egypt's FM, Arab Parliament Speaker discuss cooperation, regional affairs

CAIRO – 17 November 2020: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry received on Tuesday Speaker of the Arab Parliament Adel al-Assoumy, and his deputies Alaa Abed and Mohamed al-Yamahi.

 

The minister told al-Assoumy that the upcoming period will witness more cooperation between the Egyptian and the Arab parliaments as the 2021 legislative session of the newly-elected parliament of Egypt will begin. The minister stressed exchanging experience in the field of control.

 

Both parties conferred over the role assumed by the Arab Parliament to reinforce mechanisms of Arab joint work, root security and stability in the region, combat terrorism and extremism, and avert attempts threatening the unity and territorial integrity of the Arab States as well as their state institutions.

 

Moreover, Shokry and al-Assoumy discussed the main challenges and issues facing the region.
