CAIRO - 19 October 2020: The first phase of parliamentary elections kicked off, Monday by allowing voters to find their ballot papers online on the National Elections Authority website in order to resend them to the embassies and diplomatic missions in different countries during the voting days.

Egypt's Ambassador in Algiers Ayman Moshrafa said in statements that the Egyptian Embassy has completed all the preparations needed for the elections.

 

 

Egyptian expatriates will vote in parliamentary elections via mail: Minister

CAIRO - 22 September 2020: Egyptian expats will vote in the coming parliamentary elections via express mail amid fears of spread of Coronavirus, according to Minister of State for Migration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Nabila Makram. In press statements, she explained that the measure is aimed at guaranteeing the highest degree of safety for the Egyptian voters during the elections.

 

He noted that the Egyptian expats should register at the National Elections Authority's website and print their ballots then to send them to the Embassy's address after voting.

 

The polling cards will be sent to the premises of the diplomatic mission abroad on October 19 and 20, while casting ballots will start on October 21 to 23, the ambassador pointed out.

Envelopes of the polling cards will be sent to the embassy via mail at the embassy's address on the condition that the voters attach copies of their IDs or passports to the voting cards, he added.

The Ministry also released several explanatory videos needed for voting and answer all frequent questions related to voting abroad.

 

 

All expats who registered their data on NEA website from September 27 to October 10 will easily vote in the House elections; however, those who failed to register earlier will not be able to vote or register on the website to get a ballot paper, according to NEA.

The electoral silence of the House elections started on Sunday ahead of the parliament elections. During the electoral silence period all candidates are prohibited from practicing any form of electoral advertising, in order to allow voters to choose freely.

According to the elections schedule, the candidates’ campaigns ends, October 18.

A total of 63 million Egyptians is eligible to cast their votes in the coming parliament election due to convene on October 21-25, after updating the voters’ database by the National Election Authority.

 

Egypt's National Elections Authority announces House elections timeline

CAIRO - 10 September 2020: Candidacy for Egypt's House of Representatives elections to open from September 17 to September 23, President of the National Elections Authority (NEA) Lasheen Ibrahim said, Thursday.

The NEA executive body will re-allocate voters to the polling stations of their electoral constituencies after increasing the number of the stations nationwide to limit the spread of the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

 

During the Senate election held in August 2020, the number of the eligible voters reached 62,940,165 voters.

Egypt’s coming parliament elections timeline that the elections’ first phase will be held for Egyptians abroad from 21 to 23 October and locally from 24 to 25 October, as its results will be announced, November 1.

 The run-off elections will be held abroad from 21 to 23 November and locally on November 23 and 24. For the second phase of elections, was set to be held abroad from 4 to 6 November and locally on 7 and 8 November and its results to be announced on November 15.

 The run-off elections for the second phase will be conducted abroad on 5 to 7 December and locally on7 and 8 December. The final results of Egypt’s House elections to be formally announced by the National Elections Authority on December 14.

 A total of 4,006 individual candidates and eight parties’ lists were accepted to run in the parliamentary elections.
