CAIRO – 27 June 2017: During its upcoming sessions, House of Representatives will hold talks to come up with a law eliminating the spread of voodoo and strokes drugs among youth.

Member of human rights committee, Mohamed El Komy presented a request to Parliament’s speaker Ali Abdel Aal on Tuesday, to summon minister of health to discuss the drugs’ spread.

“Voodoo has been familiar to young citizens more than weed and marijuana,” Komy told Egypt Today, pointing out to the danger of this drug, which might lead to death.

“There are five substances of voodoo enlisted as narcotic substances but there is still one substance not prohibited, and there are a lot of young men addicted to it,” Komy added, calling on health minister to enlist this substance on the prohibited drugs list as soon as possible to save the lives of thousands of young people.

Despite the danger of both drugs, they don’t apply to Egyptian law. Voodoo and strokes prices range between LE 150-300 ($8.2-$16) per gram, and they cause audio-visual hallucinations. They also affect the nervous system and heart.
