CAIRO, Aug 4 (MENA) – Giza Criminal Court is due to resume on Saturday the retrial of 8 defendants in the case of El Fatah Mosque violent incidents which took place on August 16-17, 2013.

The defendants were previously handed down prison sentences ranging from life to 10 years after being tried in absentia. After they were arrested their retrial proceedings started in accordance with the law.

They are charged with committing acts of violence and murder, assaulting police forces and citizens as well as setting fire to institutions and property outside El Fatah Mosque in Ramses Square, in downtown Cairo, in August 2013.
