CAIRO - 29 July 2020:  In light of the National Council for Women's keenness to follow up on all women's issues, the Council has followed recently a subject related to threats of violence and abuse by some people against the founders and operators of social media pages and accounts,  including those on Instagram, that publish content related to incidents of sexual assaults and abuse against women and girls.

In this regard, the National Council for Women affirms that it stands with every woman and girl who are exposed to any form of threat by providing all the necessary support. The Council calls upon those who might be exposed to such threats to contact it through it's complaints office hotline "15115" so that necessary action is taken.

The Council also calls on every girl and woman who might be subjected to harassment and/or threats to immediately report through the official reporting mechanisms of the concerned entities within the Ministry of Interior and the Public Prosecution, which in turn will be investigating these reports.

The National Council for Women affirms that all the state agencies do not hesitate to address these acts and take the legal measures against the perpetrators and bring them to trial in order to achieve justice.
