CAIRO - 14 July 2020: Presidential Adviser for Health and Prevention Mohamed Awad Taj el-Din said that President Abdel Fatah el-Sisi directed the completion of the national project to achieve self-sufficiency of plasma derivatives, which is one of the most vital industries. He stressed that the project needs large funds to obtain it.
 
Taj el-Din added during a phone in on extra News channel that the subject of plasma derivatives has been under review for a long time, to provide some basic derivatives that are used in the treatment of many diseases.
 
He pointed out that the plasma differs in its use to treat many diseases, pointing out that the Egyptian government and President Sisi are interested in the file of plasma derivatives because it is a vital and separate issue from the coronavirus.
 
He indicated the presence of a disease called hemophilia, which is treated by factor 8.
 
The presidential adviser stressed that the localization of the plasma industry in Egypt is not an economic issue but rather a national health security issue.
 
"Localization of this industry is necessary, especially in light of the political and economic will to activate this industry," he said.
 
Egypt reported 931 new coronavirus cases on Monday, bringing the total infection tally to 83,001 since the outbreak began in February.
 
The health ministry also reported 77 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 3,935.
 

The ministry's daily bulletin showed 556 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 24,975.
