CAIRO – 13 July 2020: Head of the COVID-19 Treatment Committee Hossam Hosny attributed the decline of daily infections below 1,000 to the protective measures and the weakening of the virus.

 

The official highlighted that deaths account for 4.7 percent of cases, which is below the global figure standing at 5 percent.

 

Egypt recorded, Sunday, 912 new coronavirus cases, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 82070.

 

In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 89 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 3858.

 

As many as 543 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 24419 so far, the spokesman said.

 

The Egyptian Drug Authority announced signing a deal with AstraZeneca to supply the country with the Oxford University's vaccine for COVID-19 without disclosing the number of doses or the delivery date.
