CAIRO - 12 July 2020: Egypt is establishing a factory in East Port Said manufacturing metro and train carriages, with the participation of the private sector, stated Egyptian Minister of Transport Kamel al-Wazir on Saturday.

"The fourth stage of the third line of Cairo Metro will be completed soon," he said, adding that Adly Mansour station will be a transit, from which the commuters can go to Cairo International Airport through a tunnel.

The metro company will issue a unified metro ticket that allows the use of the three lines of the metro, the monorail, and the electric bus.

The metro, which works every day from 5:15 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., was first launched in 1987 and has since become the most important means of transportation in Greater Cairo, helping commuters avoid traffic jams or negotiating fares with unmetered taxis.

Over 3.5 million of Greater Cairo's 21 million inhabitants rely on the subway for their daily travel, according to estimates by the country's National Authority for Tunnels.

Egypt is establishing two lines of monorails.  A monorail is a rail transportation system based on a single rail, which acts as its sole support and its guide way
