CAIRO – 12 May 2020: Egyptian parliament’s deputy Suleiman Wahdan said Tuesday that member of parliament Shereen Farrag has been tested positive for the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) before she was isolated at Kasr El Aini hospital in Cairo to receive medical treatment.

Wahdan added in press statements that the parliament’s chambers have been sterilized and evacuated according to the Ministry of Health’s instruction to prevent the spread of the infectious virus. He pointed out that the member of parliament will receive the medical treatment offered to any Egyptian citizen.

Egypt recorded during the past 24 hours, 347 new coronavirus cases and 11 deaths, which raises the total infected patients of COVID-19 to 10,093 and the total deaths to 544 according to Health Minister’s daily briefing.

Health Ministry Spokesman Khaled Megahed said, Tuesday, that the number of coronavirus cases whose tests turned from positive to negative increased to 2811, including 2326 people who recovered from the virus.
