CAIRO, May 6 (MENA) - Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held on Wednesday a virtual meeting with the board of the Egyptian University Sports Federation (EUSF), under its vice president Sobhi Hassanin.

The federation officials thanked Abdel Ghaffar for his efforts and cooperation with Health Minister Hala Zayed to confront the novel coronavirus.

They stressed the importance of precautionary measures taken by the State to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

They also praised the significant role played by university hospitals to receive cases infected with the novel coronavirus.

The council decided to donate 50,000 pounds to the Tahya Misr (Long Live Egypt) fund to support the state's efforts to confront the Covid-19.

The meeting reviewed achievements made by Egyptian universities at the Arab beach soccer championship, which was held in the Sultanate of Oman, where the Egyptian female team won the first place, and the Egyptian male team came third.
