CAIRO – 3 May 2020: A plane with no passengers will land on Sunday in Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh to carry back, respectively, 42 and 142 Ukrainians to their homeland.

International aviation has been suspended in Egypt since March 19. Yet, tourists who had arrived before the suspension were allowed to continue their programs and leave on scheduled dates. A number of those expressed desire to remain in Egypt as COVID-19 crisis took its toll on their countries.

The authorities approved in condition that they are tested for coronavirus. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed their countries, and the travel agencies coordinated with the Ministry of Interior to extend the duration of their visas.

Hotels and resorts across the country were instructed to quarantine workers for 14 days after the departure of the last tourist.

Iraq operated on April 13 two exceptional flights that took off from the Egyptian capital Cairo to the Iraqi capital Baghdad, evacuating 324 Iraqi nationals over coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
