CAIRO, April (MENA) – The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) has set up an award for combating the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar announced Saturday.

The $200,000 prize will be awarded for discovering an effective cure or developing a vaccine against COVID-19, added Abdel Ghaffar, who doubles as chairman of Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and ICESCO.

Prize applications must be sent to the commission secretariat, including the application form available on www.icesco.org, a detailed report on the invention, researchers' CVs, and the invention registration (patents) approved by a relevant legally-recognized body along with the technical documents proving that patent is valid (3 recommendation letters).
