CAIRO – 6 April 2020: "There are no infected cases with coronavirus among the railway and metro workers, and all suspected cases tested negative," announced Head of Egypt's Rail and Metro Workers Union Abdel Fatah Fekry.

Fekry added that all workers are following the precautionary measures, especially those in contact with the public. He said that a total of 5,000 medical masks are distributed daily to all workers.

He further said that a worker was suspended in Aswan after his wife tested positive to COVID-19, but his examination showed he is clear, and he got back to his work.

Transport Minister Kamel el-Wazir instructed authorities and companies at the ministry, especially the railway and metro sectors, to provide thermometers to measure the temperature of all the workers on a daily basis.
