CAIRO, April 5 (MENA) – The Health Ministry received 344,257 calls via its hotlines (105) and (15335), set up for inquiries about the coronavirus (COVID-19) and other communicable diseases, during March.

Most inquiries were about preventive measures, symptoms, what to do in case of showing any symptoms, differences between COVID-19 and seasonal flu, how the COVID-19 virus spreads and who is most vulnerable to it, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said in a statement on Sunday.

He noted that the call capacity for the (105) hotline had been increased tenfold to accommodate call flows at the ministry's emergency room set up for this purpose.

Two English lines have also been dedicated for foreigners staying in Egypt, he added.

Moreover, the room is coordinating the ambulance authority, respiratory, fever and isolation hospitals to transport infected cases to the nearest isolation hospital, he pointed out.

The hotlines are available 24/7 to respond to all inquiries free of charge, the spokesman said.
