CAIRO, April 5 (MENA) - President of Cairo University Mohamed Othman el Khosht said on Sunday that an agreement was reached with Health Minister Hala Zayed to turn El Sheikh Zayed hospital in Cairo's Mansheya Naser neighborhood into an isolation facility for the university's teaching staff and workers infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Under the agreement concluded in full coordination with Minister of Higher Education Khalid Abdel Ghaffar, the hospital's medical management committee will be chaired by Dean of Cairo University's Faculty of Medicine Dr. Hala Salah El Din, Khosht said in a press statement.

He added that the university has a group of highly-skilled medical teams to support hospitals of the Ministry of Health in different specialties, including diagnostic radiology, critical care medicine, chest and endemic diseases, as well as clinical and chemical pathology as part of measures to confront COVID-19.

The university had formed a technical committee to review medical protocols in force at Cairo University's hospitals, the New Kasr El-Aini Teaching Hospital and the National Cancer Institute in the fields of infection control and safety assurance.
