CAIRO – 5 April 2020: The Ministry of Interior launched last week a crackdown on merchants withholding tons of commodities from the market.

The ministry has intensified efforts to address monopolizing food commodities and tampering with prices.

Security forces managed to seize 1816 persons, 78 vehicles, 51 motorcycles, 32 Tuk Tuks and 83 shops that violated the partial curfew imposed as part of the state's measures to combat the coronavirus spread.

The ministry continues its efforts to implement all the preventive measures and take legal steps against the violators, in order to maintain the public health and safety of citizens.
