CAIRO, April 2 (MENA) - Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said on Thursday President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed increasing monthly allowance of medical interns at university hospitals from EGP 400 to 2,200.

The decision will be applicable on the 2019 graduates of the Faculty of Medicine of universities across the country.

In press statements, Maait said 12,000 interns will benefit from the decision in a bid to improve health services offered to the public nationwide.

The ministry has already allocated 100 million pounds to the higher council of university hospitals to finance the new raise for these junior doctors, he added.

He said the new fiscal year will include a package of measures meant to improve financial conditions of state employees to ease economic burdens on them.
