Egyptian president, PM review state’s efforts to fight COVID-19

CAIRO – 1 April 2020: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Wednesday has reviewed the Egyptian state’s efforts to fight the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), in a meeting with Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli, the Presidency said.

The meeting was held a day after the Egyptian Ministry of Health recorded 54 new positive cases for COVID-19, raising the total toll to 710, including 157 recovered cases and 46 deaths.

Sisi and Madbouli have reviewed the ongoing communications at the foreign level, to coordinate international measures to fight the deadly virus and curb its spread, according to Presidential spokesman Bassam Radi.

Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel Aaty and Chief of General Intelligence Abbas Kamel also attended the meeting.

The meeting has also reviewed the reinforcement measures being taken to secure the Egyptian borders and combat terrorism.

The president also discussed updates of a number of foreign issues within the framework of the challenges threatening the security of the region, Radi said, without revealing further details about the discusses topics.

The meeting reviewed the government’s efforts to provide citizens with services and to continue the production process in various fields, especially food commodities and agricultural products.

Sisi reveals details of economic plan in face of coronavirus crisis

CAIRO – 22 March 2020: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Sunday announced in full the country’s economic plan, in face of the novel coronavirus, as he read out loud a number of economic decisions, while marking the national Women’s Day.
