CAIRO - 27 March 2020: Spokesman for the Coptic Orthodox Church Bolis Halim said on Friday that the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church has not announced any preparations for prayers of the Holy Week or Easter.

In press statements, Halim dismissed as groundless the reports circulated on social media websites about arrangements made for the prayers.

The spokesman urged people not to publish any news, except those announced on the official page of the Coptic Orthodox Church’s media center.

Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese has decided to close all churches and suspend Masses and other Christian rituals as part of the precautionary measures taken to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus.
