CAIRO – 17 March 2020: Minister of Immigration Nabila Makram said on Tuesday that the ministry brought the 200 Egyptian citizens who were stuck at the Egyptian-Sudanese borders back home.

The Ministry of Immigration has received requests from a number of Egyptian students in Sudan about the existence of difficulties to return to Egypt due to the suspension of flights because of the coronvirus, according to the ministry's statement.

In the ministry’s statement, Makram asked the students and citizens wishing to return from Sudan to go to the headquarters of the Egyptian Embassy in Khartoum to register their personal data.

The minister has recently contacted Egyptian Ambassador to Jordan Sherif Kamel, to follow up the issue of the Egyptians stuck at Jordan Airport. She also stated that Kamel visited these citizens and contacted the concerned authorities, indicating that steps are being taken to end the situation.
