Kuwait denies suspending visa issuance to Egyptians

CAIRO - 1 March 2020: Kuwait's consulate in Egypt denied a rumor propagated by a media report that claimed Kuwait has suspended visa issuance to Egyptians due to fears of coronavirus.

A diplomat at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Cairo told Youm7 that the Kuwaiti consulate regularly issues visas to Egyptians.

Al-Qabas newspaper reported that the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior suspended the visas of the Egyptian community in Kuwait until further notice due to coronavirus.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health announced that the number of coronavirus cases in the Gulf state reached 46 cases on Sunday.

On February 26, 2020, the Egyptian Embassy in Kuwait called its nationals to be vigilant and avoid crowded places in the Gulf state,where the number of infected cases with the deadly coronavirus is increasing.

Over the past few days, dozens of coronavirus cases, coming from Iran, were registered in the Arab and Gulf states such as Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, the UAE, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, Qatar, and Algeria.
