CAIRO - 25 February 2020: The Ministry of Health's Preventive Medicine Sector revealed on Tuesday that washing the hands frequently with water and soap along with hand sanitizer, is an effective protection measure against the coronavirus.

The sector emphasized that hands should be washed immediately after coughing, sneezing, caring for a patient, using the toilet, dealing with animals and their droppings as well as after returning home and before eating.

Alaa Eid, head of the Preventive Medicine Sector at the Ministry of Health and Population, confirmed that the medical condition of the foreigner carrying coronavirus and isolated in Al-Nujaila Hospital is stable and that the virus cannot be detected in his blood.

"Coronavirus is a simple disease that can be treated, but it is dangerous for children, the elderly and people with chronic diseases," he said.

Both the Ministry of Health and Population, and the World Health Organization announced that the result of the PCR for the foreigner who was infected with the new coronavirus (COVID 19) while he was in Egypt came out negative, 48 hours after entering the hospital designated for isolation.

Khaled Mujahid, adviser to the minister of health and population for media affairs and the official spokesperson of the ministry, explained that during the follow-up of the foreigner's medical condition, the medical team conducted the PCR test six times over three consecutive days, and the result came out negative every time.
