CAIRO - 13 February 2020: Chad’s Minister of Health Mahmoud Youssouf Khayal has praised efforts exerted by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to back Chadian people.

The minister reiterated that Egypt spares no effort to support African countries in all fields, according to a statement issued by Al Azhar on Wednesday.

He pointed out that Al Azhar, which spreads the message of moderate Islam, is also the main supporter of humanity, noting that Chadian people await Al Azhar’s medical convoys every year since such missions provide them with much-needed health services.

On Tuesday, a new medical and relief convoy of Al Azhar was launched in Chad.

Al Azhar University Vice President Mahmoud Seddiq, who supervises Al Azhar convoys said that the new convoy comprises 26 doctors in various specializations in addition to assisting teams of nurses and pharmacists.

The convoy will be offering medical checkups and medicines for free, in addition to performing surgeries for those in need.

Five tons of medicine and medical equipment were sent to Chad as part of the convoy, he said as quoted by the statement.

Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed al Tayyeb has ordered to intensify medical and relief convoys inside and outside Egypt within the framework of Al Azhar's social and humanitarian role, he pointed out.
