CAIRO - 1 January 2020: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli visited the Nile Corniche on Wednesday to get firsthand information about an "Egypt People Walk" project, currently under construction.

The government has outlined a comprehensive plan to remove encroachments on the river as a first step toward implementing the project, Madbouli said.

A pier and an open-air theater should be constructed as part of the project meant to develop the course of the Nile River from Aswan until Cairo, the premier said.

The project also aims to increase greenery and tourist sites in Cairo to be similar to international cities overlooking waterways, Madbouli added.

The visit was attended by Mohamed Abdel-Aty, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Assem El-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Khaled Abdel-Al, Governor of Cairo, and Ihab Al-Far, Head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces.
