CAIRO – 28 December 2019: Khaled al-Mahjoub, head of the Libyan National Army mobilization department praised efforts exerted by Egypt led by President Abdel Fatah al Sisi to maintain security and stability of Libya.

Mahjoub's speech came during his phone call on dmc channel on Friday; he reiterated that Egypt is Libya’s real supporter that can help settle the situation in favor of the Libyan army and prevent Turkish intervention.

Al-Mahjoub stressed that the Libyan army has made great progress to uproot militias in Tripoli, adding that directives have been given to target any support from Turkey by sea or air amid complete Arab and regional rejection for interference in Libya.

It is worth mentioning that Libya’s Government of National Accord (GNA) requested in December 27 Turkish military intervention providing air, ground, and sea support to its militias in Tripoli against the attempts of the Libyan National Army (LNA) to capture the capital.

Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan stated that troops will be sent to Libya upon the request of the interim government in Tripoli and that the parliament is expected to pass the decree on January 8.
