CAIRO – 17 December 2019: The Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al Sisi met on Sunday with representatives of foreign press institutions operating in Egypt as part of the World Youth Forum (WYF) held in Sharm El Sheikh.

Egypt is keen on reaching a maritime border delimitation agreement with Greece, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said on Monday.

The president made his remarks during a meeting with representatives of foreign press institutions operating in Egypt.

The Egyptian government was on good terms on that score with the previous government in Greece and now after a cabinet change in the southeastern European country we are eager to revive talks over the agreement, Sisi said.

Sisi extended his congratulations to the British people on the victory of British Premier Boris Johnson in the UK general election, voicing optimism about prospects of greater cooperation between both countries, especially at the economic and political levels.

As for the Israeli occupation's plans to increase the number of settlements and annex the Jordan Valley in the West Bank, Sisi noted that these are just election promises made by Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Sisi reiterated Egypt's firm stance on the Palestinian cause, the settlement issue and the two-state solution.

In addition, the president underscored the state's keenness to communicate with young people, citing a recent presidential decree appointing 12 new governors and 23 deputy governors, all of them are under 35 years of age, which demonstrates the state's commitment to engaging young people in leadership positions.
Foreign interference has been the main problem facing our region over the past decade, Sisi said during his meeting with the media representatives in Sharm El Sheikh, the venue of the ongoing World Youth Forum, which kicked off in the Red Sea resort city on Saturday.

He stressed that the Egyptian interference in Libya and Sudan seeks to serve the interests of both Arab countries, which is essential for ensuring Egypt's national security.

"We are always in support of national state institutions," Sisi said, underlining the state's commitment to preventing any further balkanization of the region's countries, which is a constant of Egypt's foreign policy.

He warned that Egypt will never allow anyone to feel that he can succeed in putting Libya and Sudan under his thumb.

Speaking of the situation in Sudan, Sisi reckoned that the country is on the right track after going through several epoch-making events.

Egypt has also always been keen on maintaining stability in South Sudan, the president noted.

He further emphasized Egypt's interest in resolving the crises in Africa and supporting counter-terrorism efforts in the Sahara-Sahel region even without the country taking over the presidency of the African Union.

Furthermore, Sisi said he attaches great importance to women-related issues and the empowerment of women due to their undeniable role to preserve the Egyptian identity throughout the ages.

Regarding dam talks with Ethiopia, Sisi said that in case a solution was not found by January 15, a fourth part will participate in the talks to mediate between Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia. The Egyptian president asserted that the country’s resources should not be wasted on useless wars, pointing out that Ethiopia is going through a painstaking process to realize development.

The president has also noted that his government seeks bigger participation from the youth in the policymaking process, adding that he decided in November to appoint young figures linked to different political parties as deputies in several Egyptian governorates.

Sisi has also discussed the Palestinian cause by asserting his country’s refusal for any unlawful Israeli settlements. “The only solution we have is the “two states” solution, and no talks on can be held before the end of the Israeli elections,” said al-Sisi.
