CAIRO - 10 December 2019: The 2019 Human Development Report issued by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) revealed on Monday that Egypt has made progress of 0.7 percent in the 2019 Human Development Index, ranking 116 globally.

Set to be fully issued in January 2020, the report stated that the macroeconomic indicators showed positive trends due to the efforts, measures and policies adopted by the Egyptian Government.

Regarding gender equality, Egypt's performance came above average when compared to Arab countries, but the human development index is still higher for men than for women.

The report indicates that Egypt has a lot of potential to improve social protection, education and governance systems; in addition to empowering women and transforming economic growth into investments that lead to more progress for human development.
