CAIRO, Nov 24 (MENA) - Arab Parliament (AP) Speaker Mishaal bin Fahm al Salami urged the US Congress and Department of State to lift the name of Sudan from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

This came in Salami's message to US Vice President Mike Pence, Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to inform them with the decision of the Arab Parliament on lifting Sudan from the list of countries sponsoring terror.

There was a unanimous vote on the decision in the AP session that was held in Cairo on October 31.

Salami said that the decision was made on the basis of the Sudanese efforts at all the Arab, regional and international levels to combat terror and sponsor peace, the implementation of all the commitments agreed on with the US on combating terrorism by Sudan, supporting the peace process in South Sudan, promoting human rights and promoting freedoms for non-Muslims.
